Sierra High School Football – Sports Photography
Sierra High School is one of the schools I cover during football season for The Stockton Record. In my town, Tracy, there are 3 high schools, in the area that The Record covers are far more than 3 so you can imagine how busy they are at the record trying to figure out what game they should or should not cover. The photo-editor at The Record has been fairly considerate of my location and tends to stick with me covering football games mostly in the surrounding areas and comes out to be a win win; I dont have to commute to Stockton (30+ min) and they dont have to commute to Tracy!
Since Football season is basically finished for most of the High Schools, I mostly find my self covering playoff games. However, when playoffs start they are not always local and tend to find my self traveling a little. This time, as well as my last time, I was fortunate to have the game locally at Sierra High School in Manteca and only had to drive 10 min. After fighting some very bad traffic to get to the game (took me 2 hours to get here fyi) and forgetting my press pass, I found my self begging to get it (well not so much) but luckily I have covered these local schools long enough that people start to recognize me. Granted when I worked as a photographer full time, I was recognized by staff a lot more than now but I am impressed that so many recognize who I am for the very few season I have covered sports locally. After that fiasco I made the game on time but not on time to get some pre-game photos

This first image is probably one of my favorite of the game. This photo was a series of 10 with this one having the best impact from the rest. The other images you could see more of his shoulder pads flying off but I went with this because of the emotion shown and all the elements work well.
